Today I am checking out the iSkin Aura Folio for iPad. This is a very good looking case for the iPad that offers lots of protection and functionality in one device. If you need a case that has lots of flexibility and will make working on your iPad more comfortable and easier to do the iSkin Aura Folio is an excellent option. Read on for all for the details.
The iSkin Aura Folio is made from metallic looking fabric and has positions that will prop the screen up in landscape mode and raise it slightly for typing. The case comes in black, brown, or orange colors and is one of the more expensive iPad cases at $119.99.
I knew as soon as I saw the iSkin Aura Folio in the box when it showed up on my door that this was the best looking iPad case I have ever seen. My review unit is the orange version with the metallic looking cover. The cover says it is fabric on the iSkin website, but it looks more like faux leather to me. The accent colors on my test unit are black and gray.
The case has a small snap that keep the iPad from slipping out of the case no matter how you hold it. A single metal button snaps shut to keep the lid of the tablet closed when you are traveling or walking around with it. The inside of the case is black microfiber and is very soft. The soft material will not scratch the screen of your iPad.
All of the ports and controls on the iPad are left uncovered and available for easy access. You will not have to remove the iPad from the case to charge it with the normal sync cable. The iPad will not dock on my alarm clock with the iSkin Aura Folio installed. That is to be expected though.
The coolest thing about the iSkin Aura Folio is the multiple positions that it will prop the screen in. You can make the iPad screen almost vertical on the highest setting, the middle setting is a bit less and a third setting is perfect for watching close to the iPad with a group.
The iSkin Aura Folio uses a simple system of friction to keep the screen propped up. The inside of the black LCD covering lid has slight ridges on it that the bottom of the case rest against when you prop it up to keep the iPad from sliding down. Looking at the ridges it doesn't seem like they would keep the iPad upright, but they do and they do it well.
If you want to type on the iPad with it in the case, you can reach under the back of the tablet inside the case and flip a little gray flap down that holds the tablet at a slight angle. That slight angle is perfect for typing. If you need privacy, the lid flap of the case can be flipped up to keep prying eyes from seeing what you are doing and to keep light off the screen. The iSkin Aura Folio's price of about $120 might seem high, but this is the best looking and most functional iPad case I have used.
The iSkin Aura Folio is an awesome case for users that watch lots of video with their iPad and type as well. This is one of the most functional iPad cases you will find on the market today.
