Domain registrar Network Solutions is poking fun at Go Daddy with a spoof video of Go Daddy Super Bowl commercials. Network Solutions hired academy award winning actress Cloris Leachman to star in a Go Granny online video.
The Go Granny video features Cloris Leachman, as “Go Granny,” a strong-willed and saucy woman who proudly recounts her adventures as the first “Big Game Girl.” Granny makes direct references to the Go Daddy girls like Danica Patrick and claims that she was the first spokeswoman for a web services company.
All in all this is a pretty funny campaign Network Solutions is running here.
“Instead of investing millions of dollars in Super Bowl ads, we leveraged the power of the Internet to promote our brand, like we do for our small business customers every day,” said Sanjay Gupta, Head of Marketing for Network Solutions. “With a little bit of creativity and the support of an online community we’re letting the masses know that as a company, we like to have some fun, but when it comes to our customers, we take their business seriously.”
The Go Granny video has been launched yesterday, but it seems not to have caught on yet. The video has only about 7,000 views yet. Network Solutions is supposed to launch a new episode of Go Granny today at 3pm ET. Watch the Go Granny video below.
Go Daddy is advertising the 7th year now at the Super Bowl and they perfected the method of driving Super Bowl viewers to their site after the commercials air on TV. This year one ad promotes the .co domain and the ad reveals a new Go Daddy Girl. Is it Cloris Leachman?
The other Go Daddy Super Bowl 2011 commercial has been already released. You can watch The Contract here.
Just like last year, I4U News will be featuring again the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide. Of course the Super Bowl 2011 for Geeks Guide will be all about the Super Bowl Commercials and not the big game.
Watch the first 2011 Super Bowl Ads now.
The Super Bowl XLV will take place in the Dallas Cowboys stadium on Sunday, Feb. 6th 2011.
