New Apple iPad 2 is in Production

The new iPad 2 is near. The Wall Street Journal reports that sources familiar with the matter said that Apple started production on the new iPad 2. The new iPad will have two cameras for FaceTime and a faster CPU. Despite earlier rumors, the new iPad will have the same resolution as the current iPad say these sources.

The new iPad 2 also sports a better graphics processor and more memory. The new iPad is supposed to be first available only on the iPhone carriers Verizon and AT&T. This is of course only true for the 3G iPads.

For me it is actually more important that Apple gets the Magazine and Newspaper stand up and running. The Daily, the first iPAd newspaper, has some usability issues they need to work on. This just shows that it is not that easy to replace print magazines and newspaper with an electronic version that is convenient to use and provide more value.

If the rumors are true and the iPad is in production we should see an April sales start for the new iPad. An announcement of the new iPad 2 could come as early as this month.
