While the rumors of the iPhone 5, iPhone nano and iPad 2 take center stage, there are also new developments in the Apple computer product category. The new 2011 MacBook Pro could have been already here, but the Intel Sandy Bridge flaw has apparently delayed it. MacRumors found a post by a Danish blogger that has heard a March 1st launch date for the new MacBook Pro laptop.
The new MacBook Pro 2011 will be based on Sandy Bridge and according to Apple Insider have some neat enhancements. The enhancements could be in the memory and storage area. It could be something similar to what Apple achieved in the MacBook Air. As you might remember the benchmark tests of the new MacBook Air have put it in the region of some of the lower end MacBook Pros. This is of course a problem. Apple needs to give the MacBook Pro a serious performance push to keep the line interesting.
Apple Insider also mentions that the MacBook Air sells already about half the number of MacBook Pros. This is no surprise. The MacBook Air is the perfect laptop for casual to professional users. My wife has once since launch and she hardly can keep her hands off it during the day. She barely uses her desktop machine anymore as the Air is powerful enough to also do video editing. And all that works from the comfortable couch.
The MacBook Air is on sale on Amazon.
