Cases and screen protectors galore!
The iPhone 4 is one of the most popular smartphones on the market today. With the smartphone recently, launching on the Verizon network in the US it will only get more popular. If you are ready to get yourself a new iPhone 4 and you are wondering what accessories are the best for the smartphone I will run down some of the best here.
There are a few accessories that I have learned the hard way over the years of using an iPhone you really must have. If you don’t put your iPhone in a case, you will eventually drop the thing and break the screen. You might think if that happens you will just buy a screen on eBay for $20 and fix it, no big deal. That isn't always the case though.
I dropped my 3GS and the phone started to overheat, replacing the screen wouldn’t fix that. I also know several people that have replaced the screen and had nothing but trouble after. Once you drop it all bets are off on the Apple warranty too. Don’t assume that the iPhone 4 cases on the market will fit the AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 models. If the case doesn't specify Verizon fitment, call before you order if your iPhone is on the red network.
What I am getting at is a case is a required accessory in my mind. Another accessory that you should just get the day you buy your phone is screen protection film. Some people think that the rugged Gorilla Glass that Apple uses won't scratch or break, which simply, isn’t the case. You can have your screen all scratched up in only a few months of carrying your phone in a pocket against keys or change. There is an endless supply of other accessories that you can get for your iPhone too. Today I will look at some of the important basic accessories that you will need and I recommend you get these when you buy the phone.
One of the most protective cases on the market for the iPhone 4 is the OtterBox Defender. This case offers protection for bumps, drops, and shock and has a holster for carrying the iPhone 4 on your belt. The downside to this case is that it's too bulky to fit comfortably in most pockets. The upside is that the case has lots of protection. You can buy the OtterBox Defender right now for about $50 on Amazon.
If you like the idea of all the protection that the Defender has, but you want something cheaper the Ballistic HC case is very similar. It has multiple protection layers and has a holster for carrying the phone. It is also too bulky to fit in most pockets. The big plus here is that you can get the Defender HC for the iPhone 4 for about $25.
If you want a case that offers protection and looks cool doing it the Elgato S4 Breathe might be perfect for you. The case is made from a hard plastic and has a non-slip coating on the front. It has holes all in the surface and reminds me of an earring holder. You can pick the Elgato S4 Breathe up on Amazon for about $20.
One of the coolest cases I have used in recent memory for the iPhone 4 has been the iChair that I reviewed this week. This case is cool because it has a stand on the back to prop the iPhone up for comfortable FaceTime or video watching. The case ships with screen protectors, and extra top and more. You can get the iChair iPhone 4 case right now for $34.
If you need a case to protect your iPhone 4 from drops and scratches, but you also need more battery life from the device as well one of the best options is the awesome Mophie Juice Pack Air. This case slips around the iPhone 4 and has an internal battery that will double your run time. The case isn’t cheap though at about $72.
The Case-Mate ID Credit Card Slim case is a really cool choice for the iPhone 4 user that likes to travel as light as possible, the case protects your iPhone and has a couple slots on the back that will hold things like a credit card and your driver's license. A single credit card and my license are all I really need and this case would let me travel with no wallet. You can get the ID Credit Card Slim Case for about $23.
If you want a more basic case for your iPhone 4 and low bulk is your main goal the Case-Mate Barely There slim case might be perfect. This case leaves the Apple logo and the camera uncovered and is made from a very thin plastic material that helps resist impacts. The downside to any thinner case is that it might not offer as much protection. The Case-Mate Barely there case sells for about $25.
There are many protective films on the market and this is something you need along with your case. Of all the films my favorite comes from ZAGG and is called InvisibleSHIELD. The film can be had in screen protection only and full body protection that covers front, back, and sides of your iPhone 4. The only downside to the ZAGG film is that some cases won't fit well with the film installed. The maximum coverage ZAGG film costs about $25 and the screen protection only costs about $15.
You can ago on for days looking at cases and accessories for the iPhone 4. This is a list of only a few, but these are all solid offerings that you will like. Buy something on this list or buy elsewhere, just be sure you protect your device!
