This is really cool and might actually get my kids to run the vacuum. A programmer from Japan has figured out how to take the Microsoft Kinect and hack the thing to control a Roomba vacuum. The Roomba is the robotic vacuum that has been around for so long.
The Kinect is basically a motion controller and the designer is able to control the direction the Roomba moves in by making gestures with his hands as if he is vacuuming with a normal device. The Kinect has really turned out to be a hackable device.
Too bad the games it was meant to play aren’t as much fun as the hacks that have turned up online. Check out the video below to see the geeky vacuum action.
