Today I am going to check out the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit. This is the kit I used in the build of the home theater in my media room and if you want to get an HD signal to your TV or a projector without wires, the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit might be perfect. Read on for all of the details.
The Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit includes a transmitter and a receiver. The device ships with two 4-foot HDMI cables and the receiver measures 11.5" x 8.25" x 4 5/8". You can get the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit exclusively at Best Buy for $299.99. The device has four HDMI ports and a remote to change inputs from across the room.
I recently installed a home theater in my media room using an Epson Home Cinema 8350 projector and a 120-inch fixed mount screen. As it happened in my home, the builder used a gas heater that has electric ignition. That means that in the attic above my media room was an outlet that had an extra plug. Using that plug meant all I needed to do was drill the ceiling, put a plate up to cover the hole, and run the power cord for my projector to that extra attic outlet.
The thing that I was really worried about was getting the HDMI cable from my AV receiver up to the projector. I know that my walls have lots of headers, which makes running cable inside impossible. If you are in the same situation, the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit is perfect. The Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit supports full 1080p and 3D video. It needs no wires between the sender and the receiver.
The sender has four HDMI puts and a single output. You can use a small included remote control to change those inputs allowing a single HDMI port on your projector or TV to be used with up to four components. The latency of the device is 4ms and it is fast enough that you can play games without any issues. So far, I have played a lot of racing games and other video games using the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit to shoot the video over to my projector and have not had a single problem.
The Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit also works with any issues at all with Blu-ray and with HD content from my satellite receiver. The only way I can tell that the video I am watching is not from an old fashioned cable is that I didn’t have to cut into the wall or run a cable up the wall to my ceiling mounted projector.
The only real downsides to this thing is that the receiver that goes with your projector or TV is a bit large. In my case the Epson 8350 is a large projector so I just wire tied the receiver to the projector mount and you can’t even see it. If you are using the Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit to send video signals to a TV mounted on the wall, it might be as hard to find a place for the receiver as it is to just run the wire through the wall. The only other thing that may bothersome is that it takes a few seconds when you change inputs for the receiver to pick up the new signal.
The Rocketfish 4-port WirelessHD Kit is the perfect solution for people needing to get a HDMI signal to a TV or projector on a wall or ceiling. It works great!
