If you are in the market for a nice home theater system and you are on a budget and have a small space, you might want to consider a home theater in a box with a sound bar. Sound bars lack the ability to offer real surround sound since they have no rear speakers, but they do offer virtual surround sound.
That means if you can’t install rear channel speakers for some reason you can at least get sound that seems to be coming from behind you in some instances. A home theater in a box puts all the speakers and amps you need in one package. The new Panasonic SC-HTB520 is a new system that has an attractive black stainless mesh material on the front and a mirror finish. The mirror finish uses a special coating that reduces dust and fingerprints. Fingerprints and dust are a big issue with many glossy electronic items making them a pain to keep clean.
The HTB520 includes a speaker bar that is designed to wall mount by a TV and be easy to install. The system has Stream Out for supporting 3D signals for viewing 3D content. The Speaker bar is sized to fit well with the Panasonic line of HDTVs that measure 42-inches and up. The system also ships with a wireless downward firing subwoofer. Panasonic also supplies the wall mounts for putting the speaker bar on your wall. The SC-HTB520 will ship in April for $399.99.
