Buy Now: Sony PlaysStation VR In Stock Here
I've spent my morning traveling from store to store and bringing you tales of the iPad 2 launch. So far, we've seen lines of 60-80 at both Apple stores we stopped by. Apple was providing water at one store, and early risers at another reported employees stopping by with coffee, snacks and umbrellas to protect customers from the hot Spring sun.
At the first store, I noticed a good dozen line-sitters using their iPads to allay the boredom. The situation was the same at the second store. Most people I asked cited the cameras and the new dual-core A5 processor as the prime motivators behind their purchase. Interestingly, there seemed to be more interest in the 3G versions than in the WiFi versions.
A CNN news van had arrived by the time we departed our second location. They were there to interview the first customer in line, who had been camped out since 6:00 AM that Sunday. His interview won't be on TV for several hours, but I already had a chance to speak with him.
Dallas's number 1 Apple fan was there to buy a 16 GB WiFi-only iPad 2. He was most interested in the cameras and the processor. When I asked why he hadn't purchased an original iPad, the customer informed me that he never purchased first generation tech, preferring to wait until they had the kinks worked out.
In addition, a new Best Buy contact has sent me a photo of the launch line at his store in the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy!
