HTC Thunderbolt Strikes Down Wirefly Pre-Sales Records

I mentioned yesterday that the Thunderbolt from HTC would be hitting Verizon wireless tomorrow. Wirefly has announced that it has smashed pre-order records with the Thunderbolt for Verizon. The 4G smartphone has surpassed all sales records going back eight years.

The Thunderbolt hit pre-order on Wirefly on March 15 at 2am EST and by the end of the day the device had sales 400% higher than any other pre-order device in the company history. Note that Wirefly will not say exactly how many of the Thunderbolt smartphones it moved.

“Yesterday was an extremely exciting day at Wirefly,” said Andy Zeinfeld, Chief Executive Officer at Simplexity, Wirefly’s parent company. “As the first smartphone to launch on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, we knew there was a pent-up demand for the THUNDERBOLTTM by HTC however, our sales volume far surpassed our expectations.”

The Thunderbolt can still be pre-ordered at Wirefly for Verizon. The orders will start shipping out tomorrow. The smartphone will ship free via FedEx and wirefly offers no-rebate pricing.
