I'll be honest with you, as a full time writer I loathe this time of year. All the places that we normally write about go crazy with fake products. Some of the fakes for April Fool's day are obvious, but others are things that are very plausible. In fact some of the plausible products from the past April Fool's pranks have ended up as real products.
The problem is that these fake products end up getting posted by geeks like me like they are real after finding their way around the web. Most places are cool with it, but some editors get really pissed if you post a fake product. If you are the type that really digs weird pranks and products on April Fool's ThinkGeek is the prank place for you this year.
They have taken some of their coolest stuff and put it all on one page. Some if it is designed to annoy your cubicle neighbors like the EvilTron that makes noise or the Micro Sonic Grenade. Others are for more nefarious deeds like keystrokes and key loggers that can actually steal the password to email and other places you aren’t supposed to get into. Most of this stuff will only get you called a few names, those keyloggers could get you fired and possibly even arrested so use them wisely.
A few of the items are just strange like the canned unicorn meat. I bet it’s Spam inside that can. One of the great mysteries of science is exactly what that slimy ooze on the outside of Spam really is. I particularly like the Scary Sound Attack card. It looks al like a nice thank you card until you open it to see a scary baby and a loud sound. I once worked with a lady that would scream like a little girl if you walked into her office too fast. I could have killed her with that card. Prank wisely my friends and heed my warnings: never prank a guy that can beat you up, never prank the boss, and never, ever prank the lady who delivers the paychecks.
