If you are a fan of the UFC or other MMA fighting organizations, you will know the Tapout name. These guys make a line of cool MMA clothing and sponsor a lot of fighters in the Octagon of the UFC and other places. Fans of MMA will like to hear that MetroPCS has landed an authorized Tapout smartphone for its network.
The phone is going to be a MetroPCS exclusive and won’t be seen anywhere else. The phone is a specially tweaked version of the Huawei Ascend that will run Android. The device will ship with two different backs and will be pre-loaded with all sorts of Tapout content for the user to peruse and decorate their device with.
"The TapouT brand is admired by MMA fans around the world, and we're proud to offer consumers a unique and personalized handset that carries the energy and radical design for which TapouT is known," said Phil R. Terry, senior vice president of corporate marketing for MetroPCS. "Special edition handsets are one of the ways that we're giving consumers the devices, services and features that are a perfect fit with their lifestyles and interests."
The smartphone will have static wallpapers, virtual training center videos, and a new Tapout app will be exclusively on this phone. The phone has a glossy black case with matte black casing and the Tapout logo on the back of both of the interchangeable covers it comes with.
The smartphone runs Android 2.2 and has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a 3.2MP auto-focus camera that can also record video. The camera comes with a 2GB microSD memory card. The phone will operate on the MetroPCS smartphone plans at $50 or $60 monthly with no contract required. Pricing for the phone is unannounced at this time.
