If you are the user of an iPhone or iPod touch, there are a huge number of docking stations on the market that you can choose from to play your tunes back in the home or office. Altec Lansing has a number of docking stations on the market already and it has announced a new docking station with speakers that promises to fill your room with sound called the Octiv 650.
The Octiv 650 has a minimalist design and has a broad audio spectrum with full sound. It can shoot the video from the iPhone or iPod out to a TV screen so you can watch movies or music videos while you listen. The dock also works with a free app called music mood that lets you playback soothing sounds and video using the device.
"The living room is often used as the hub for entertaining and relaxing. With the new Octiv 650, we've created the ultimate sound system to create the perfect environment for any occasion," said Steve Schlangen, Altec Lansing product manager. "The clear, balanced sound quality that Altec Lansing is known for is combined with the Octiv 650's video out capabilities to create an ambiance that no other home component system can match."
The Octiv 650 is a minimalist design with a flat front panel and a wedge shape. The audio comes from a pair of 3-inch full-range drivers and a 4-inch subwoofer that provides deep bass. With the iPhone in the dock and the video out set up the user can shoot video from Netflix or Hulu Plus out to their TV.
The 650 has composite video out jacks. The device also has an aux input for devices that aren't dockable. If you dock an iPhone, the 650 will mute the music so you can hear the phone ring and answer the call. The Music Mood app also has an EQ for the music, can be set with basic options, and has a more advanced 7-band EQ. the 650 will ship in May in black or slate colors for $199.95.
