Apple will very likely launch the Apple Back To School 2011 promotion next month. Last year the Apple Back To School Sale launched on May 25th. This sale is very popular with students and members of the educational system. What do you get? In the past years buyers of a new Mac system received a free 8GB iPod. Obviously if you do not care about an iPod the Apple Back to School sale is not that exciting.
Each year people hope for a new deal that is more exciting. With the iPad making inroads into class room around the nations and even into Kindergartens, an iPad 2 Back To School deal would be a nice move for Apple. Not every school district and Kindergarten can afford to give kids a free iPad. A sizable discount would enable more students to benefit from an iPad.
The chances of Apple offering an iPad Back To School deal are rather slim though. It is much more certain that they will go with a free iPod touch deal again.

Update:
Well our initial prediction that the Apple Back To School deal would start in May was off by a couple of weeks. The 2011 Apple Back To School Promotion has officially launched today on June 16. Students, You get a free $100 App Store Gift Card with your Mac purchase. Educational price discounts of course still apply. Save for instance $200 on the MacBook Pro.
Update: 06/15/11:
Apple is supposed to announce the 2011 Back To School Deal today. The latest rumors point to a new deal. Apple will give students a free $100 iTunes gift card with a Mac purchase.
Update: 05/28/11:
A new rumor points towards Apple announcing the Back to School 2011 Deal at the WWDC 2011. Maybe a discount for the iPad 2 is coming.
Update 05/19/11:
The Apple rumor mill picked up on the Apple Back To School Sale, but did not reveal anything new yet. We still expect to hear about the new deal from Apple earliest next week.
Update 05/13/11:
we are getting closer to the Apple Back To School announcements for this year. Right now no new rumors or hints leaked on what the deal will be. Right now I still stick to the assumption that the deal is again a free iPod touch with Mac purchase.
