Apple has announced the white iPhone 4 today for a April 28th release. The release odyssey is finally over. The white iPhone 4 was supposed to launch at the same time as the black iPhone 4 almost a year ago. Then Apple found issues with the production of the white glass and had to delay the release many times. You can take a trip back in the release history of the white iPhone 4 below.
“The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”
The consumer interest in the white iPhone appears to be strong. Which is a good thing for Apple as the company is seen to not release the new iPhone 5 this June. Apple is supposed to switch to a Fall release schedule for the iPhone. Apple can afford that move as iPhone sales are still very strong. The Apple Q2 earnings call revealed that sales of the iPhone reached 18.65 million (up 113% compared to the year-ago quarter). The iPhone sells strong in the United States, but even more so internationally. The white iPhone 4 is predicted to give the iPhone another big sales push.
The white iPhone 4 is not any different from the black iPhone 4. Many fans hoped that Apple will make some small changes. We still need to wait for a hardware dissection, but from what we know so far nothing has changed.
