Today Apple finally announced the availability of the white iPhone 4. Tomorrow the white iPhone 4 will be available in the United States and many other countries around the world. Ina Fried at AllthingsSD interviewed Steve Jobs and Phil Schiller about the white iPhone 4.
Apparently Apple ran not just into issues making a white case. The white case also had impact on components and sensors inside the iPhone. Additionally UV protection was also an additional issue.
Steve Jobs says that going through that painful process has benefited Apple more broadly - think white iPad. Anyway all delays are now forgotten and Apple fans are already getting in line in front of Apple stores for the white iPhone 4.
When searching Twitter it is actually not clear if more people are in line for the white iPhone 4 or still for the iPad 2. The demand for Apple products is just really unique. It is hard to estimate at this point how many white iPhone 4 phones Apple produced for the launch. But my guess is that they will sell out tomorrow.
