Back in February when Motorola confirmed the $799 price-tag for the Xoom, the company argued that the Xoom is faster than the iPad and therefore more expensive. This is only true with LTE. During the Motorola Earnings call Motorola said that LTE support for the Xoom is delayed to summer. I just love release dates that are specified in season time frames. If you are one of the up to 250,000 Xoom owners than you maybe get your LTE upgrade as early as June or as late as end of August.
Droid-Life reports that the Xoom LTE delay is attached to the delay of the Droid Bionic LTE phone.
Verizon is still rolling out LTE and by far not all Americans can have 4G connectivity yet. Verizon has still issues with the service as the outage this week shows.
What does this mean?
If you want to be on the cutting edge, there is no 4G tablet right now available. The best way to go is over a 4G MiFi from Sprint and getting a Wi-Fi tablet. The Xoom Wi-Fi is on sale on Amazon for $589.99.
