Yesterday I filed a report on what is next for Apple after the iMac release. Obvious next new Apple hardware release is a 2011 MacBook. According to AppleInsider analyst Shaw Wu with Sterne Agee thinks the same way. He also reports that his supply chain sources claim that all Macs except the iMac and MacBook Pro get an update in the coming months.
An Apple MacBook update is important for two reasons. It is badly outdated and the MacBook plays an important role in Apple's portable business. At least that what it did before the company released the MacBook Air.
With the latest rumors that the next OS X Lion update will be delivered via the Mac App Store the drive less MacBook Air is all what you need. Additionally Apple is supposed to launch a comprehensive cloud service (iCloud). The cloud could replace the local hard-drive. Storage capacity is currently the only advantage of the MacBook over the MacBook Air. There is a chance that Apple kills the MacBook and broadens the MacBook Air line-up.
What that means is that you should think twice when you are in the market for new Mac if you need it right away as updates are on the way arriving within the coming months.
