It is pretty much sure that Amazon will come out with an Android Tablet this year. Jeff Bezos just confirmed it basically in an interview. Taylor Wimberly at AndroidandMe has a bigger story to tell. According to a source, Amazon will unleash an entire family of Android devices this Holiday season including a smartphone. I am actually not that surprised. Amazon can afford to be bold. Google just made a bold step with the Chromebook. It could change the laptop industry. Amazon could suddenly emerge as major tablet and smartphone player that can challenge Google and Apple with a complete eco-system. Forget the book store. Google also goes beyond the search engine.
Amazon actually has to do it. They are the only ones that can enter the game at a high level. Microsoft has to crawl up the hill to ge to where Amazon can get in, once they release end user devices.
There are no details about what kind of devices Amazon will release. What is for sure is that Amazon will step on Apple's and Google's toes soon.
