The wait is finally over. Sony launched the restoration of the Playstation Network services across the globe. The rollout is phased, so you might still be without luck. In the United States several states are already turned on. The first service available is multiplayer. To get back into the PSN you need to update your PS3 firmware first and define a new password. You know the old one is with the hackers.
The Sony Playstation got switched off on April 19 after Sony detected an intrusion. Hackers stole about 100 million accounts (PSN and SOE). If credit card number got really stolen is still uncertain.
Kazuo Hirai recorded video message announcing the PSN rollout. He apologizes again for the outage and details the steps Sony has taken to make PSN more secure. Sony will also offer a Welcome Back Package. Details of that will be announced soon and differ per region. You can watch the video below.
