Apple is Up To Something This Apple Store Anniverary Weekend, New 2011 MacBook?

Last month we reported that Apple might have planned something to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Apple Store. The first Apple Store opened on May 19th 2001. BGR received interesting details of behind the scenes activities planned at Apple Stores across the nation for this weekend. If true Apple must have planned something major like a product launch to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their physical Store chain.

The report lists overnight shifts of 10-15 staffers, locked away new hardware, secret trainings material and a mandatory meeting for all Apple Store employees on May 22nd in the morning. MacStories confirms the mandatory meeting rumor. What does it all mean? My gut feeling is that Apple will launch a new MacBook to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Apple Store. A new entry-level MacBook is ideal for that. The white MacBook is iconic, but got outdated by the introduction of the latest MacBook Air. Apple needs to update it and this event would be perfect for it.
