Last Fall Apple launched the new MacBook Air amidst raving reviews and great sales. Time flies and the MacBook Air is going to be updated in the next months. Digitimes reports today that Apple is already releasing the 2011 MacBook Air as early as June.
The new MacBook Air will be based on Intel Sandy Bridge platform and feature Thunderbolt. Sandy Bridge CPUs would take the performance of the MacBook Air to new heights. Apple actually used pretty low-end CPUs in current MacBook Air generation. I would not exect a Core i7 CPU though as an option. Apple needs to maintain the awesome battery life of the MacBook Air as well.
What this means for you is to hold off on a MacBook Air purchase if you can for another 1 or two months. Apple is holding its WWDC 2011 conference in the beginning of June. Earlier rumors suggested that Apple is not unveiling new hardware during the developer conference. If true than the new MacBook Air will be launched independently after WWDC (June 6-10).
