Apple made some progress on getting more magazines under their iPad subscription model lately. This week Android Tablet also are supposed to make a big step forward with the launch of seven magazine subscriptions.
MediaMemo reports that Samsung Galaxy Tab users (Verizon only) will be able to buy single issues or subscriptions starting on Thursday. The seven magazines include Esquire, Popular Mechanics, Fitness and Parents, The New Yorker, Fortune and Time. This offering is coming from the publisher consortium Next Issue Media.
As this is only available to Galaxy Tab owners with Verizon Wireless service, this is a very small test run. Next Issue plans though to offer 40 magazines by the end of the year. At this point I assume all Android Tablet owners will have access to them.
