Google is supposed to announced an NFC based Mobile Payment service on Thursday, May 26th. Google did not make an official announcement yet, but sent out media invites for an event on Thursday. Bloomberg reports that anonymous sources told them that Google will unveil a mobile payment service on NFC enabled Android Phones like the Nexus S.

So after the music cloud service, Google also wants to beat Apple to the punch with an NFC payment system. The NFC Apple payment system is still in the rumor stage and it is not even known if the next iPhone has NFC capabilities.
