Students across the country wait for the new Apple Back to School 2011 deal. Apple is getting ready for giving Students another incentive to by a Mac some when in the next two weeks. A new rumor appeared on BGR today saying that Apple will announced the new Back to School deal at the Apple Developer conference on June 6. What is even more important is that Apple is adding a new deal to the free 8GB iPod touch deal it promoted over the last couple years.
Students could either choose to get $200 off of an iPad with their Mac purchase or get the iPod touch. A deal on the iPad is what many students are hoping for. The iPad is a cool tool to carry around campus. The only reason why this might not happen is the still bad supply situation of the iPad 2.
The free iPod touch deal has been seen as a way for Apple to clear out inventory before the new iPod touch generation got launched. With the iPad the situation is very different.
Update 06/16/11:
The 2011 Apple Back To School Promotion has officially launched. Students, You get a free $100 App Store Gift Card with your Mac purchase. Educational price discounts of course still apply. Save for instance $200 on the MacBook Pro.
Update 06/15/11:
Apple is expected to launch the 2011 Back To School deal today. Rumors suggest that it will only be a free $100 iTunes Gift Card with your Mac Purchase.
Update:
Apple did not unveil the 2011 Back To School deal today at the WWDC 2011 keynote. Since iCloud is free, the arguement that iCloud is tied to the Back to School deal is mute. My guess is now that Apple will unveil the Back To School promotion next week after the WWDC 2011 is over. New prediction for the Apple Back To School 2011 promotion is June 14.
