The leaked Asus Padfone tablet and smartphone combo is now officlal. Asus just held a press-conference at the Computex 2011 announcing the Padfone. The Asus Padfone has a 10.1-inch tablet screen and the dockable Android smartphone has a 4.3-inch screen. Asus is only in the prototype stage with the Asus Padfone.
Asus says that users can choose the ideal screen size they want with the Padfone. With the phone docked, it can recharge from the tablet’s larger battery and the tablet can also make use of the smartphone’s 3G internet connection. The dual interfaces for both the pad and phone ensure an enhanced user experience as the layout is automatically adjusted for all activities such as video conferencing, web browsing, and emailing. I am still not convinced if the Padfone is really cool, or just a novelty. Asus has not provided any technical details and possible release date yet for the Padfone.
Asus announced yet another tablet at the Computex that joins the Eee Pad Transformer, Eee Pad Slider and Eee Slate. The Eee Pad MeMO 3D has a 7-inch screen that can display 3D images without glasses.
