The reason for Apple announcing the Back To School Deal 2011 at the WWDC 2011 might be iCloud.
Apple should have announced the Back To School 2011 deal by now. An earlier rumor said that Apple will announce the education only promotion at the WWDC 2011. Why Apple would choose the unusual venue for the announcement might be the iCloud. Apple will unveil the iCloud services at the WWDC 2011. Earlier we reported that Apple is rumored to offer the iCloud without the music service for free for OS X Lion users. Now 9to5Mac reports that they heard that Apple is going to offer the iCloud service for free to students.
The iCloud offer for students could be the reason for Apple to bundle the Back To School deal announcement at the WWDC 2011.
The possible Back To School deal would then likely be: Buy a Mac and get $200 towards an iPad or get a free 8GB iPod touch. Additionally you get the OS X Lion Update at a discount and free iCloud service (without music).
Update: Apple did not unveil the 2011 Back To School deal today at the WWDC 2011 keynote. Since iCloud is free, the arguement that iCloud is tied to the Back to School deal is moot. My bet is now on Apple unveiling the Back To School offer next week.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
