Lenovo is on a positive trajectory in the PC market. Recently the Chinese company bought Medion in Germany to bolster their European foot print. According to China Daily, which published a lengthy report today about Lenovo's plan to beat Apple, quotes an analyst saying that the High-end PC market in China has only Lenovo competing against Apple. Wang Jiping with International Data Corporation China says that Sony, Samsung, Toshiba and Dell are not in the game anymore in China for the high-end.
Lenovo had its best year in 2010 and also the last quarter is up. The revenue numbers are though very small when compared to Apple's. Still, Lenovo's Chairman Liu Chuanzhi called out Apple as his target to beat. Lenovo has a solid based with the ThinkPad brand they bought from IBM years ago, but still needs to beef up innovation dramatically to meet Apple eye-to-eye.
