The HP TouchPad goes officially on sale on July 1st. Earlier today several videos appeared of HP TouchPad units on display at Walmart stores. I just checked the HP TouchPad listings on the Walmart.com site and you can actually already buy them today. You can choose Site to Store or ship to home.
The HP TouchPad with 16GB sells for $498 and the HP TouchPad 32GB sells for $598.
The HP TouchPad features a 9.7-inch screen with 1024x768px resolution and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2-GHz processor. Other features of the first WebOS Tablet include 16GB or 32GB storage, Wifi 802.11n, A-GPS (3G only), Bluetooth, 1.3MP front faceing webcam, 6300mAh battery and Micro-USB port. On the software side the WebOS TouchPad supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta, HP Synergy feature, virtual full QWERTY keyboard and Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite.
Web OS is considered to be already directly competing with iOS and Android HoneyComb. The biggest question is the richness of the eco-system consisting of apps and media that HP can provide to TouchPad users in the near future.
