As reported last week the rumors about the iPad 3 swing between a 2012 and a Fall 2011 release date. Digitimes has published on Friday a new report saying that the iPad 3 is going into production in August. This would mean the new iPad goes on sale in September.
On the other hand we heard that Apple increased the orders for the iPad 2. So what should we make from all of this. I still think that Apple does not need a new iPad this year. Digitimes claims that the new iPad 3 would be thinner and feature a 250dpi display.
I still lean towards the iPad 3 coming in 2012 giving the iPad 2 a product life of a year. Apple still has not caught up with the iPad 2 demand. Customers have to wait 1-2 weeks until their order ships from the Apple Store. Taking also into accout the report about the increased iPad 2 orders, there is just no room for a new iPad 3 in 2011.
