Transforming robots still got it. Michael Bay's action epic Transformers 3 scored the 3rd biggest global opening weekend of all time with $372m. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince leads that chart with $394m followed by Spider-Man 3 with $382m. Because of the July 4th holiday in the United States, Transformers 3 is seen to blow past $400m.
Sequals apparently have a better chance to score better reception at the box office. Transformers 2 was not such a hit. Transformers 3 has a new love interest for Shia LaBeouf with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but that cannot be the sole reason why Transformers 3 is doing so well. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is just one wild high quality action ride that is best consumed in 3D Theaters.
