The Wall Street Journal published a report today saying that Apple has placed orders for components needed for the new iPhone 5. The report is based on information from people familiar with the situation. According to the report the new iPhone 5 ships in the 3rd quarter of 2011. The new iPhone 5 is supposed to be thinner, lighter and features a 8MP camera.
According to person from the supply chain, Apple has placed an order for 25 million iPhone 5 units. This is a word. I hope that number is true. It should keep the iPhone 5 in stock for the first 24 hours.
If the new iPhone 5 is using a dual-mode wireless baseband chip is still not clear. The WSJ article did not mention that the iPhone 5 will use the new A5 CPU, but I guess we can take that as granted.
More iPhone 5 Coverage.
