Facebook integrates Skype Video Calling

Facebook uses Skype to counter Google Hangout.

Facebook announced today a new video chat feature powered by Skype. The video chat feature is now directly built into the Facebook Chat. Facebook is rolling out video chat to all 750 million users in the next few weeks.

If you want to use it now you can click here. The Skype integration is seamless. You do not need a Skype account. Skype is really just providing the technology and infrastructure here. Google is able to offer their own video technology through the hangout feature in Google+.

Facebook also made some improvements to the chat function including the introduction of instant group chat.
