Intel announced at the Computex 2011 in May a new laptop concept dubbed Ultrabook. The Ultrabook laptops are going to be thin, light and priced under $1,000. An Ultrabook is less than 20mm (0.8 inch) thick and runs on Intel 2nd generation Core CPUs. Ultrabooks are clearly aimed at competing with the MacBook Air.
Ultrabooks are scheduled for the Holiday shopping season, but the race is already on to be first to the market with an Ultrabook. The Asus UX21 Ultrabook is supposed to come in September. Today Digitimes reports that HP is supposed to be releasing their Ultrabooks earlier, beating all branded notebook vendors.
HP is supposed to release two or more Ultrabooks using the Core i7-2677M (1.8Ghz) and i7-2637M (1.7Ghz) dual-core CPUs. Foxconn is reportedly already shipping Ultrabooks to HP.
