The highly anticipated iPhone 5 may have already left the secure walls of the Apple campus. A new rumor posted by Device Magazine says that AT&T has been beta testing the iPhone 5 since July 6th. The source of this information is vague and as it turns out the revealed information is also not that valueable.
The beta test units of the iPhone 5 are apparently disguised though. The AT&T guys can perform their connectivity tests, but do not actually hold the finished product in hand.
A week ago we reported about a supply chain rumor that said that the iPhone 5 is already in production. If it is than the beta test at AT&T have a strange timing.
Overall the iPhone 5 is still a pretty undefined mystery. What we can expect for sure is that it runs on the Apple A5 CPU. Everything else is still all over the place. The rumor mill mentioned so far that the iPhone 5 will have an edge-to-edge screen, be thinner, have a different backside design and feature an 8MP camera.
It is still expected that the iPhone 5 release date lies in September, despite this recent rumor that it could launch as soon as August.
