iPhone 5 launches September 5 according to Source at Swiss Carrier

How do you like Monday, September 5th as an iPhone 5 launch date?

The elusive iPhone 5 is generally expected to be released in September. Now we are starting to see specific dates show up in the Apple rumor mill. Italian blog iPhoneItalia reports that a source at Swisscom (senior executive?!) told them that the carrier is preparing for an October 5th launch. The iPhone 5 will already launch on September 5th in the United States though, one month ahead of the global launch.

September 5th is a Monday. The iPhone 4 launched on a Thursday (June 24, 2010). I am not sure what to think of a Monday launch date. I guess it depends if Apple is going to offer a pre-order period on the iPhone 5 or if they just launch it online and in stores.

What the iPhone 5 is going to be is also still very much undefined. It looks very likely that it will pretty much be like the iPhone 4 and with almost 100% certainty run on the A5 CPU. Everything else is just plain speculation. More iPhone 5 Rumors.
