Galaxy S2 comes to Verizon first on August 12 [Update]

The highly anticipated Galaxy S2 is coming in August to the United States. This is official word from Samsung. The exact launch date has not been revealed yet. An story on Examiner (via PocketNow) says that an industry analyst named Paul Mueller is putting his bets on August 12 as Galaxy S2 launch date. He sees Verizon to be the first carrier offering the S2.

At 8.9mm the Samsung Galaxy S2 is very thin. Features of the Samsung Galaxy S2 include a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display and an 8MP camera. Other features include Bluetooth 3.0, HSPA and NFC.

Samsung already sold millions of the Galaxy S2 in Europe and Asia. On July 29 Samsung will reveal new sales number of the Galaxy S2 in the Q2 FY2011 earnings report.

Update:
The Galaxy S2 will launch on August 29. Samsung Mobile confirmed this with an invite to a press event in New York today.
