Foxconn is probably the most famous electronics manufacturer in China, because of its high profile customer. Foxconn is making the iPhone and the iPad for Apple. Foxconn also got into negative headlines as several workers committed suicide.
Reuters reports today that Foxconn has plans to install about 1 million robots over the next three years. These robots are supposed to take over simple tasks. Foxconn is right now only using 10,000 robots. This is really low compared to the 1.2 million employees Foxconn has. As the wages are rising in China things are changing and manufacturers need to start using robots more. If you walk into a car plant in Germany you hardly see people. The places are packed with robots. The same thing will happen in China as well.
