Coolest Netbooks for Back to School

Well the time is here for kids to start getting ready to go back to school. College and other schools will be starting back in the next few weeks and if you have put off getting geared up the time to buy is here. Many college students that are heading back to class will be looking for a new netbook to take with them.

Netbooks are great for busy students because they are small and compact. The only downside is that if you need lots of processing power for things like computer graphics or CAD software a netbook probably won't do the trick for you. If all you need is a machine that is light and portable with enough power for videos on your break between class, checking email, and telling friends on Twitter or Facebook how boring class is the netbook will do just fine. Read on for five of my favorite and coolest new netbooks for the back to school season.

1. Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454 - This netbook is a bit larger than your average offering with an 11.6-inch screen. That extra inch of screen space means that the keyboard will be larger making this netbook easier to type on. The netbook runs on an AMD C-Series C050 processor and has 2GB of RAM. Storage is to a 250GB HDD and the machine uses ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics. You can buy this bargain priced machine for $279.99.

2. ASUS Eee PC 1015PX-SU17-BU - This netbook comes in several different colors to suit your style. The machine has a 10.1-inch screen, which is the average size for netbooks today. The netbook has an Atom N570 CPU and a battery good for up to 11 hours per charge. It also has 2GB of DDR3 and a 320GB HDD. The HDD on this machine is higher capacity than average and the machine runs Windows 7 Home Premium. The machine has a memory card reader, 0.3MP webcam, and integrated WiFi. Bluetooth is built in as well and the machine sells for about $368.

3. HP Mini 210-3080NR - This little HP netbook comes in several colors. It has an Atom N455 processor, Windows 7 Starter, and a 10.1-inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution and 1GB of RAM. Storage is to a 250GB HDD and the battery is good for 9.5 hours of use. The machine also has Beats Audio for better sound. Graphics are via Intel GMA 3150. You can get the netbook for $299.99.

4. Samsung N150 Plus 10.1-inch netbook - This netbook is Samsung branded and has an Intel Atom N550 CPU. This will be one of the most powerful netbooks I have put on the list so far. It has 1GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD. The screen is a 10.1-inch non-glare display with GMA 3150 graphics. The graphics are handled by Intel GMA 3150. The price is under $290.

5. Dell Pink Mini 10 Netbook - This is the pink version of the Mini 10 netbook, but the machine comes in several other colors. It has a 10.1-inch screen and runs Windows 7 Starter. It has a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 resolution screen and a 250GB HDD. Other features include 1GB of RAM and an integrated webcam and mic. The machine runs an Atom processor and is available for under $300.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
