The Apple iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled in September or as late as October. How will the new iPhone 5 look like? Rumors range from no change to the iPhone 4 to dramatic design changes. Recently more rumors point to a dramatic new design. This apparently has even Chinese makers of knock-off electronics convinced as they built the first iPhone 5 clones. Reason enough to take another look at current iPhone 5 designs and fakes that are circulating on the web. Our last round-up of iPhone 5 designs had only three interesting ones back in June. See all iPhone 5 concept designs and fakes in the story gallery.
What is better than a rendering of a future iPhone? Correct and actual fake. Giz-China found already a iPhone 5 knock-off that picks up one of the most rumored iPhone 5 designs. This design is comprised of a very thin body that is tapered from top to bottom. The back side has rounded edges and might not be glass anymore. There is also a video of a white version of this fake iPhone 5 (via 9to5Mac). you can watch that below.
How about an iPhone Air? This is what ciccaresedesign has dreamed up and it is very pretty. The iPhone Air design incorporates the tapered case and an edge-to-edge screen.
Update:
MacRumors hired CiccareseDesign for a series of iPhone 5 designs based on the recently leaked cases. We have added those to the gallery. These are definetly the nicest iPhone 5 concept images out right now. Are the close to the real iPhone 5? We will know when Apple is releasing the new iPhone.
Designer Michal Bonikowski created a concept design (photo above) of the iPhone 5 featuring a curved aluminum back-side. The design looks pretty plausible, but I would have added an edge-to-edge screen. Yanko has a couple more photos of his iPhone 5 design.
Already in April ThisIsMyNext published a iPhone 5 concept design with an edge-to-edge screen and an aluminum back. Their design sees the iPhone 5 getting thinner towards the bottom end.
A bit off the beaten path takes us designer Antoine Brieux. His iPhone 5 design actually reminds me a bit of Samsung's design language. Not sure if it is intentional, given the tension between Apple and Samsung these days over patents. More photos of this iPhone 5 design can be found on Gizmodo.
