Spotify launched after years of waiting on July 14 in the United States. Apparently the whole we are coming mantra has paid off and Spotify is off to a great start in the United States. According to sources of Peter Kafka at AllThingsD, Spotify has 1.4 million users of the invite only free service and 175,000 paying customers. This is pretty cool for a service tha just launched about three weeks ago.
The conversation rate to paying customers is good, but a couple percent points less than in Europe. Still, everybody can be pleased with that so far, including the music labels.
