Since a while we see rumors that claim that Apple will unleash two new iPhones this fall. A new premium iPhone with the iPhone 5 and a lower cost simplified iPhone. Today a new rumor report surfaced that claims that Apple calls the lower cost iPhone internally the iCloud iPhone. The iCloud iPhone would rely mostly on the iCloud and have limited storage. It would be streaming most data.
Apple'n'Apps (via MacRumors) says that Apple aims to bring the cost of the iCloud iPhone down to $400. With carrier subsidies the iCloud iPhone would be free with a 2-year contract.
The report claims that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 and the iCloud iPhone in the last week of September. The iCloud iPhone is supposed designed to look like a small iPad 2. The Apple'n'Apps report confirms that the iPhone 5 would have the rumored thinner design as depicted here.
Apple'n'Apps claims that the information about the iCloud iPhone comes from three independent sources connected to Apple. With all the HTML5 services that pop up these days an iCloud iPhone could make sense. The iCloud would though to have more features than we know about today. It would need to include an HTML5 App Store and real iTunes streaming. Right now we only know that the iCloud will sync media across your devices.
