Intel sees Ultrabooks price indeed staying below $1,000 this Fall.
Intel's MacBook Air competing notebook platform is dubbed Ultrabook. Ultrabooks are supposed to be light, thin and powerful and priced under $1,000. In recent weeks reports appeared that said that Ultrabook makers struggle to keep the Ultrabook prices under $1,000. Intel stepped up marketing and communications the last days to counter those reports. According to Digitimes Intel indicated at an event in Taipei that indeed Acer, Asus and Lenovo will launch $999 Ultrabooks in the fourth quarter.

There are still skeptics, but Intel could hand out subsidies to manufacturers and also lower the CPU prices to help meet this crucial goal.
