Windows Phone 7 Mango is the highly anticipated new Windows Phone 7 release that gets Windows Phones way closer to what Android and Apple smartphones offer today. Mango will also trigger a fresh new wave of Windows Phone devices. Microsoft said that Mango will come in Fall. According to Pocket-lint Microsoft has us not wait too long. On September 1 Windows Phone 7 Mango is supposed to be released to existing WP devices and also will kick off the release wave of new Windows Phones.
September 1 got chosen because IFA 2011 starts the next day in Berlin. Several companies including Samsung are expected to show off new Windows Phones at the show.
The first Mango phone has been already announced in Japan and will go on sale in September. Therefore a September launch of Mango is very feasible.
It seems Microsoft is able to mess with Apple's iPhone 5 release party expected to start in September as well. Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich release party is likely not happening that early.
Update:
Microsoft's Windows Phone man, Joe Belfiore, tweets that September 1 release date for Mango is just a rumor. It is actually better to not react to rumors. Now I actually believe it even more that Mango comes on September 1.
