Zombie Gunship is on iTunes now for 99 cents. The game is 15.8MB and you can download it over 3G. The last update was August 6, 2011 and it works very well. The latest version works on iPad and iPhone.
I found myself stuck in a hospital room with a sick relative recently with time and boredom on my hands. I decided to download a new game and play on my iPhone 4. I grabbed Zombie Gunship since it had a bunch of good reviews. The game downloaded quickly and has a very basic premise. The world has been overrun by Zombies and survivors are rushing to a bunker as the Zombies close in.
The player's job is the gunner on a big C130 aircraft circling the opening of the bunker. At the start, you have a 25mm gatling gun to shoot the zombies with and prevent them from getting to the bunker entrance. I hated this gun. It's very inaccurate and that makes it hard to kill zombies to start. You get to kill zombies in each round until you kill three civilians by accident or a zombie makes it to the bunker entrance. At that point, the level stops and you get your reward for the number of zombies killed.
The reward money can be sued to upgrade your 25mm gun or to unlock better weapons including a 40mm gun and a 105mm howitzer. I found that the 40mm gun is the most effective. With this gun, you can place a round near enough to a zombie attacking a civilian that you can kill the zombie and leave the civi alive. You can upgrade all weapons to load faster, have more damage, for faster bullets and there are other upgrades to buy as well.
The only bad thing about his game is that as you progress the only thing that changes is the number of zombies and the zombie type that comes out. The level is always the same. You also circle in the C130 from different sides when levels change. When the aircraft is behind the bunker hitting the zombies close to the ridge near the door is a challenge. Overall the game is fun and worth the 99 cents to play.
The setting might not change on Zombie Gunship, but when you are in the mood to kill zombies the game is a lot of fun.
