We expect Apple to announce the iPhone 5 this month. New rumors over the weekend say that Best Buy is preparing the iPhone 5 launch either early October or 3rd week of October. 9to5Mac reports that Apple has already started to train Apple Store employees on iOS 5 and iCloud. The timing suggests that the iPhone 5 launch could already happen in September.
Unless Apple is not launching the new iPhone 5 at the same time as iOS 5. It is possible that Apple launches iOS 5 and iCloud for existing iPhones first and launch the new iPhone model week(s) later. It would be unusual, but possible. The rumors about Best Buy launching the iPhone in October are somewhat solid though. This Is My Next reports that Best Buy stores are installing an Apple Fixture on October 21. BGR has published what seems to be an internal Best Buy document that says that iPhone 5 launches in the first week of October and that Sprint gets the iPhone 5 too. Pre-sales of the iPhone 5 could already launch this week according to the document.
There is a lot of chatter right now around the iPhone 5 launch, but I still expect Apple to actually host a media event to unveil the new iPhone device(s).
