Specifications

The Lite Sprites Lite Wand and Prisma has a magic color wand with two buttons. The wand talks to kids to tell them what they can play and do. It has games like color hunt and the child can cast spells. The wand runs on AA batteries and has an off switch and volume control. It also comes with the leader of the little sprite characters called Prisma and a little platform for Prisma to sit on. The toy is available now and will cost you about $30.

It's hard to believe that the holiday season will be here very soon. Like most parents, we start rounding up toys for the holidays about when school starts to get a jump on the cost. That means it's time to start looking at some of the coolest toys for the holiday season and the Lite Sprites Lite Wand and Prisma toy here is one of the coolest for girls (boys can play too). I had a big box of toys dropped off by WowWee and my daughter took it in. I figured she had found something she liked when I heard her yelling from outside.

We went to Six Flags Over Texas this summer, they were selling these Lite Sprite toys there, and she loved them. The Lite Sprites Lite Wand and Prisma is the base pack for all of the toys and using the wand that is included your little one can change colors on all the Lite Sprite play sets and characters at will. From a tech standpoint, the Lite Sprites Lite Wand is a very neat piece of kit.

The thing my daughter and I had the most fun doing was capturing colors for things around the house to use on the characters and play sets. On the bottom of the wand is a little sensor and when you press that sensor against a surface in enough light the wand will read the color and then make a light that same exact color.

My car is a very strange color of orange and my daughter wanted to capture that color. We gently pressed the wand against the car and it captured the exact hue of the car in light for my daughter to play with. She spent hours running around the house capturing colors from anything and everything she could. The color capture won't work on everything, especially if the color is too dark or the room is dark. She also found that you can't capture the color of a kitten either. The cat really didn’t appreciate the attempt.

Once you capture the color, you can aim the wand at any of the little dolls or play sets in the Lite Sprites collection and press the diamond button on the wand and the color will shoot over to the characters and play sets. Once you get tired of capturing colors you can cast color spells, which make the lights on the play sets cycle colors depending on the spell you cast.

You can also mix colors to come up with something else entirely. This is one of the coolest toys I have seen in a long time for little girls. My daughter sat in the dark bathroom for a long time just changing colors on Prisma and clapping over how pretty they were. You can't go wrong with the Lite Sprites Lite Wand and Prisma, it is tons of fun and priced so it won't break the bank.

Verdict

Pros

  • Awesome color capture mode
  • Lots of fun for kids and adults

Cons

  • Even on low volume, the wand is loud

Conclusion

The Lite Sprites Lite Wand and Prisma is a very cool toy that my daughter just loved and I am sure yours will too. This will be a fantastic gift for the holiday season.
