Earlier today we reported that Nike is holding a big event tonight to unveil the Nike Air Mag from the Back to the Future II movie. According to the moveThis unique sneaker is not supposed to come out until 2015, but it will be here today. Nike uploaded a teaser video to make sure people get the message that they will unveil the Nike Air Mag today. What is special about the 2011 Nike Mag? It is a self lacing sneaker. Like in the movie the sneakers tighten itself to fit.

Initially I thought we have to wait until tonight to see the Nike Air Mag, but one of Nike's premiere sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield (Air Jordan) has already unveiled the 2011 Nike Air Mag on video back in May.

Counter Kicks points to an EA video interview with Tinker Hatfield where he demonstrates and explains the 2011 Nike Mag Air. Besides the self lacing feature the Nike Air Mag is also doing a light show based on your movements. You can watch the EA Sports interview below. Jump to 12:38 to see the Nike Air Mag segment or wait until tonight to watch Michael J. Fox to unveil the Nike Air Mag on the Letterman Late Show. I recommend still watch Michael to unveil the Nike Mag. It could be an awesome TV event.

Update 2:
2011 Nike Mag are official and available in auctions

Update 1:
According to a new report, Nike will only make 1,500 2011 Nike Mag sneakers. The company will auction off each pair on eBay to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
