Deutsche Telekom follows up reservation of iPhone 5 with "Premieren-Ticket" black plastic card.
As first carrier world-wide, Deutsche Telekom launched a reservation program for the unannounced iPhone last week. As reported, I immediately called after hearing about it. Today I find in the mail a nice envelop from Telekom containing a black plastic card titled "Ihr Premieren-Ticket." I must say this has a nice touch and as such is rather unexpected from Deutsche Telekom. The card has a unique reservation code and is supposed to save from the hassle to wait in line or aks for the iPhone 5 availability. German Telekom promises to keep "Premieren-Ticket" holders up to date on the latest iPhone 5 developments and I would get invited to a Telekom shop once the iPhone 5 is here.
In the small print it says that the tickets get voided if Apple is not releasing a new iPhone until end of the year. Telekom makes the delivery date also depended on how many iPhone 5 devices they get from Apple and when.
So far the iPhone 5 reservation program on German Telekom works well. If this is really getting me an iPhone 5 earlier as most Apple fans in Germany remains to be seen. It will depend also a lot on Apple and on how many iPhone 5 they are able to deliver on launch day. As reported mass production is supposed to be already at 150,000 units per day. This reservation program could get German Telekom also maybe an advantage on negotiating with Apple on getting more launch iPhone 5 inventory.
