iCloud Backup Reset on September 22 confirms iOS 5 early October launch

Apple informed developers that the iCloud backup will be cleared on September 22.

The iOS 5 release draws closer. Last week we carried a report that sees the release of the iOS 5 Golden Master on September 23. Another report suggests that iOS 5 will launch on October 10, as AppleCare is preparing for major influx of iOS related support calls.

9to5Mac reports that Apple informed iOS developers that the iCloud backup will be reset. This likely means that Apple releases the iOS 5 Golden Master after the reset.

If all goes well with the iOS 5 GM release than the early October iOS 5 release is feasable. Apple could launch iOS 5 a couple days ahead of the iPhone 5 launch. We will see how they play it.
